GALLOWAY, NJ – David Richter, the Republican candidate seeking to represent New Jersey’s Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, announced today that he has received the endorsements of Galloway Township Mayor Tony Coppola, Deputy Mayor Rich Clute and Councilman Tony DiPietro.
Galloway Township, located in Atlantic County, has approximately 37,000 residents. It is the fourth largest municipality in the Second District which includes all of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties, as well as parts of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Ocean counties. The township is home to the FAA’s William J. Hughes Technical Center, Galloway National Golf Club, Historic Smithville and Village Greene, the Renault Winery and Stockton University.
Mayor Tony Coppola said, “David spent his career in the private sector growing a business, creating jobs and helping to expand our economy, unlike career politician Jeff Van Drew. He has established himself as one of the rising leaders of the Republican Party in South Jersey and I look forward to working with David as our next Congressman.”
Deputy Mayor Rich Clute added, “As someone who worked in the construction industry for more than 20 years, David knows what it takes to build public works and infrastructure and his leadership in Congress will be critical to helping bring federal dollars to South Jersey so we can invest in our infrastructure and create jobs for our citizens.”
Councilman Tony DiPietro said, “I have no doubt that in Congress David will work to lower our national debt, cut our taxes, and fight for our veterans and seniors. He is the best candidate in this race to defeat Jeff Van Drew and I am honored to be joining my fellow Republican leaders in Galloway today to endorse David’s campaign.”
“Jeff Van Drew has completely failed South Jersey voters. He spent over a decade supporting the Democratic majority in the state legislature and making New Jersey one of the highest-taxed and most anti-business states in the country,” said Richter. “Now, after running as a conservative Democrat, Van Drew has voted in Washington with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez nearly 90% of the time. We need a real conservative in Congress who will work hard for smaller government, lower taxes and secure borders, and who will fight to protect, not undermine, our constitutional rights,” added Richter.
