NJGOP Chairman Comment On New Jersey Losing Amazon Bid

For Immediate Release

Trenton, NJ - Amazon officially announced that New Jersey lost out on their bid to attract the Amazon HQ2.

NJGOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt reacted to this news with the following comment:

"New Jersey was on track to attract 50,000 new well paying jobs and $5 billion worth of investment before our state's new management de-railed our bid. To survive, New Jersey needs to be competing with states like New York and Virginia, but we're consistently losing out. We're chasing out job creators and storied companies like Gerber because we send all the wrong signals to new, cutting-edge companies like Amazon.

Steinhardt continued, "Phil Murphy and legislative Democrats may coddle the state's business climate with their words, but their actions are killing it. The country's economy is booming around us, yet New Jersey’s Democratic leadership is yanking back on the reigns with a steady stream of new and debilitating tax increases.

"Senate President Sweeney came forward in recent days and claimed he's done raising taxes, yet he's proposed and supported billions of dollars in taxes this calendar year alone. Lip service won’t save New Jersey the private sector investments we're capable of winning, but Republican leadership will.”
