PRESS RELEASE: CCGOP Chairman Ambrosino Calls On Camden City Council Not To Move Forward With Barclay Appointment
/Camden County GOP Chairman Rich Ambrosino called on Camden City Council to “do the right thing” and not appoint former Assemblyman Arthur Barclay to the City Parking Authority. Ambrosino’s press release follows:
HADDON HEIGHTS – According to the Camden City Council Agenda for the regular meeting scheduled for September 10 former Assemblyman Arthur Barclay, who resigned from the Assembly for “health reasons” after being arrested for simple assault during a domestic incident, is being appointed “to serve as Commissioner to the Parking Authority of the City of Camden.”
“A transfer to a new job, a pay raise and now an appointment to the Camden Parking Authority. It appears Arthur Barclay has put the health issues that forced him to resign from the Assembly behind him,” Camden County Republican Chairman Rich Ambrosino said. “He should be thrilled his health has apparently greatly improved.”
“Health issues aside, there is no way Camden City Council should vote yes on this appointment,” Ambrosino stated. “Arthur Barclay admitted to punching his girlfriend, he’s already been given a new job and a pay raise, it’s time to stop rewarding him for what even Congressman Norcross said ‘is unacceptable under any circumstances.’ If they won’t listen to me, listen to the congressman from their own party.”
Ambrosino asked, “Will Camden County Democrats ever stop protecting Arthur Barclay? Was all the #MeToo and #BelieveWomen stuff just rhetoric?”
“Barclay getting a new job and a pay raise demonstrates the inability of County Democrats to do the right thing.” Ambrosino said, “I am hopeful City Democrats will do the right thing and deny Barclay’s appointment to the Parking Authority.”
